Archeologist So Hasegawa (JSPS Cairo Research Station), currently excavating ancient Roman era cites in the Nile Delta region, will explain how the Nile Delta\u2019s geographic features relate to pre-Islamic cities and villages. Researcher Naoko Fukami will discuss the different types of city and the contexts that gave rise to the 18 megacities around the globe. After these two presentations, we will have a discussion about the history of cities, including what makes a city, the relationship between urban and non-urban environments, and more.
