Databases

The Waseda University Organization for Islamic Area Studies provides the following databases and other online resources for collections held at the university and elsewhere.

1. Islamic Architecture in Cairo

This web site features photographs and annotated Google Map locations of Islamic architecture in Cairo. It was created in 2013 with the support of National Institutes for the Humanities funding for research databases.

2. Christianity-related Architecture in Egypt

This web site features photographs and annotated Google Map locations of Christianity-related architecture in Egypt. It was created in 2014 with the support of National Institutes for the Humanities funding for research databases.

3. Objects from the Fustat Archeological Dig Site

This database features a Waseda University collection of objects from an archeological dig site at Fustat, the first capital of Egypt under Muslim rule. It was created in 2014 with the support of Japan Society for the Promotion of Science funding to publicize research findings.

4. Photographs from the Greater Japan Muslim League

This database features a Waseda University collection of photographs from the Greater Japan Muslim League, the first official Islamic organization in Japan. It was created in 2014 with the support of Japan Society for the Promotion of Science funding to publicize research findings.

  • The photographs are for academic use only. Unauthorized use, commercial use, and other for-profit use are expressly forbidden and may result in prosecution.
  • All image and text data is subject to laws regarding ownership, copyrights, and intellectual property. Permission from the rights holder(s) must be obtained for academic use (including use in research papers and scientific publications). Contact information for the rights holder(s) is listed on each respective site.
  • It is not necessary to get permission in advance to briefly access these resources online, such as in classroom settings.
