“Far From the Tree”<\/p>\n

The proverb, \u201cthe apple doesn\u2019t fall far from the tree\u201d describes how children have similar characteristics to that of their parents. Far From the Tree is a documentary depicting the love and struggles of parents with children who are sexual minorities, have physical or intellectual disabilities, or are in some way \u201cdifferent\u201d from them.<\/p>\n

What would you do if your child as \u201cdifferent\u201d from everyone else?
\nThe more you believe that children are supposed to be like their parents, the more difficult it becomes to accept your child just the way he\/she\/they are.<\/p>\n

If you think you might become a parent in the future, why not take this opportunity to think about parenthood and family? Following the screening, you will have an opportunity to share what you felt with other participants over some snacks and drinks.<\/p>\n

This event is a great opportunity to see the film based on FAR FROM THE TREE, a New York Times Bestseller with more than 50 awards worldwide. Hope to see you there!<\/p>\n

This documentary film is based on interviews of parents of children with \u201cdifferences\u201d such as having a disability or being a sexual minority. It depicts the different forms of happiness when parents and their children learn how to embrace \u201cdifference,\u201d while overcoming various difficulties.<\/p>\n
