We hope it was an opportunity to go beyond their respective research fields and think together about problems.<\/p>\n<h6><\/h6>\n<h6>Lunch meeting<\/h6>\n<p>A lunch meeting for young researchers (in conjunction with the Faculty of Letters, Arts and Sciences, and with the assistance of the Career Center) was held for the first time in two years at the Toyama campus. It was designed to transcend the area of one\u2019s research, and think about careers and create networks. It was attended by 29 people from a wide range, from undergraduate students to teaching staff.<\/p>\n<div id=\"attachment_3485\" class=\"wp-caption alignright\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.waseda.jp\/inst\/diversity\/2_toyama\/\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-3485\" src=\"https:\/\/www.waseda.jp\/inst\/diversity\/assets\/uploads\/2018\/02\/2_toyama.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"336\" height=\"163\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.waseda.jp\/inst\/diversity\/assets\/uploads\/2018\/02\/2_toyama.jpg 820w, https:\/\/www.waseda.jp\/inst\/diversity\/assets\/uploads\/2018\/02\/2_toyama-610x296.jpg 610w, https:\/\/www.waseda.jp\/inst\/diversity\/assets\/uploads\/2018\/02\/2_toyama-768x373.jpg 768w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 336px) 100vw, 336px\" \/><\/a><p class=\"wp-caption-text\">\u25b2Kusayanagi,Professor Tanabe,Professor Toyoda,Professor<\/p><\/div>\n<p>Two teachers explained their experience in coming to grips with their research, career, personal life, and especially child-raising and other aspects of family life, which was followed by a general question-and-answer session and discussion. The participants raised questions on various topics, including the problems, doubts and worries when choosing a career in research. These concerns include family and personal life such as childbirth, child-raising, looking after parents and grandparents, and relationship with one\u2019s spouse, as well as the compromises with research and career (work\u2013life balance), concerns about their research, and the difficulties of health care in a research-centered life. The tough conditions as well as diversity and depth of problems facing young researchers quickly emerged during the discussion.
