{"id":10980,"date":"2021-04-06T11:33:51","date_gmt":"2021-04-06T02:33:51","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.waseda.jp\/inst\/diversity\/?p=10980"},"modified":"2021-04-06T11:54:36","modified_gmt":"2021-04-06T02:54:36","slug":"obtainment-of-silver-recognition-for-2020-pride-index","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.waseda.jp\/inst\/diversity\/news\/2021\/04\/06\/10980\/","title":{"rendered":"Obtainment of \u201cSilver Recognition\u201d for 2020 Pride Index"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>On Nov. 11, 2020, Waseda University\u2019s LGBTQ-related initiatives obtained \u201cSilver Recognition\u201d in the \u201cPRIDE Index,\u201d an evaluation index that assesses workplace initiatives for LGBTQ and sexual minorities, established by the private organization \u201cwork with Pride.\u201d As the University\u2019s first application for recognition, this opportunity allowed the University to deepen its awareness of what makes a workplace comfortable for LGBTQ.\u00a0 The University will continue to value and promote diversity as it not only relates to sexual orientation and gender identity, but also as it relates to creating a fair working environment where a diverse range of people can work cooperatively.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.waseda.jp\/inst\/diversity\/assets\/uploads\/2021\/04\/pride.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-10983\" src=\"https:\/\/www.waseda.jp\/inst\/diversity\/assets\/uploads\/2021\/04\/pride.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"330\" height=\"462\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<h6>PRIDE Index<\/h6>\n<p>Established in 2016 by work with Pride, it is the first evaluation index in Japan to assess workplace initiatives for LGBTQ and sexual minorities. There are five indexes \u2014 policy, representation, inspiration, development, and engagement \/ empowerment \u2014 each of which have their own assessment standards. A point is awarded for each fulfilled index, with gold status awarded for five points, silver for four points, and bronze for three points. In 2020, 230 businesses and organizations received awards.
