留学体験談 / Testimonial

Q.留学を通じて得た成果を教えてください
1:英語力の伸び 9ヶ月も現地にいれば程度の差こそあれど、どう足掻いても英語力は伸びる。インドアかつ英語を全く喋れなかった自分も、徐々に現地に馴染むことができた。
2:日本を国外から俯瞰的に見る能力 国が異なれば、環境も異なる。鉄道の車内の様子、街の様子、大学を歩く学生達の装いなど日本のそれと比較する機会は毎日毎時間訪れてくる。その比較を楽しみ味わうことで日本的考え方や文化的背景の輪郭を掴むことができた。他人と話すことで自らの性格が初めて理解できるように、他の国の環境を知って初めて日本を深く理解することができたように感じる。
3:様々な知見 シアトルは移民がとても多い街でもあり、大学内外に様々な背景を持った学生がいる。特にインド系とアジア系の背景を持った方々が多くいる。彼らとの交流によりそれぞれの国の考え方や文化的背景を知ることができた。それと同時にシアトルはテクノロジーの巨大企業が多くある。(Microsoft, Expedia, Amazon, Starbucks, Boeing等)。テクノロジーと多文化の共存を体現した街がシアトルであり、留学を通じて様々なことを学びたい学生にとっては良い環境だと感じた。

  • 留学が必修となっている国際教養学部の学生は、学部の許可をとった上で応募してください。
    For SILS students participation in a year-long study abroad program is part of the general degree requirements.
    Therefore, you must consult with your School Office in advance if you wish to apply to a semester program(s).
  • 通年科目が設置されている学部に属する学生が春学期留学をする場合、 科目登録ができず、帰国後の秋学期の授業を受けられない可能性があります。
    その他、専門演習(ゼミ)の登録や履修ができない等、支障が出る可能性がありますので、 所属学部・研究科に問い合わせ、よく確認の上、出願して下さい。
    If your School has year-long programs, it is essential that you consult with your School Office before applying to a seminar program(s) as there will be a possibility that you may not be able to register for courses in the second (fall) semester and/or seminars (enshu, or so-called "zemi").
  • 延長生となって中期留学プログラムに参加する場合、学費は延長生学費ではなく、所定額をお支払いいただくことになります。

    Students on extension (encho-sei) who participate in semester programs are required to pay the full tuition and other academic fees set by their Schools instead of the reduced fees for students on extension.You should confirm details with your School Offices.
