It is still common practice for Japanese companies to hire new March graduates “en masse” in April. There are a handful of companies that offer students graduating or completing their studies in September employment that begins in October, and even January.
The usual “high season” for selection takes place from March in the year prior to graduation to June/ July in the year of graduation. Entry into prestigious companies is highly competitive. As a result, preparation for job-hunting should begin by the year before the selection process starts, normally in the third year (winter) of university (undergraduate).
Every year starting from December 1, the Career Center holds a series of job-hunting guidance events for our students, who will begin job-hunting in the following year. There is also additional employment guidance for international students, some available in English. Attendance to the events is highly recommended.
