Her research is based on the observation that, in the environment, harmony is maintained through a complex interplay of diverse factors. As environmental change becomes a global issue, it is important to have a vision that integrates new experimental science and data science, as well as a social science perspective, in order to understand the natural environment and how to utilize it.

Prof. Takeyama aims to address these questions for agricultural soils. ln particular, she is constructing a new platform for the utilization of soil microorganisms for environmentally friendly agriculture.

ln this workshop, participants will deduce from scientific data how to understand, conserve, and utilize not only agricultural soils but also various environments. Participants will exchange and discuss about their research on the analysis of big data of multi-level parameters of the environment (biological, physical, and chemical) obtained by using the cutting-edge technologies. The goal is to share a vision for environmental conservation and utilization from these research findings. ln particular, the workshop will be a starting point for the creation of a global network of research fields in environmental and ecological bio-DX.

One of this three-day workshop will specially be dedicated to Bio-DX on marine engineering.

Beside the scientific discussions, the workshop will seek, through a dialogue with experts and policy makers, to develop an international research collaboration by looking for matching possibilities between the Japanese Moonshot program and the EU Horizon Europe program.

Last but not least, PdH Students from both Waseda University and ULB will present posters about their work on December 1st, 2022.

—

Program of the workshop

Program_WBO_Prof. Takeyama’s Workshop

A new three-day academic workshop is organised by the Waseda Brussels Office from November 29th to December 1st, 2022.
