Physical fitness and health

The figure on the left shows the incidence of diabetes by physical fitness levels, we followed 4,747 Japanese for 14 years. The result was that the higher the physical fitness level, the lower the relative risk of diabetes (PMID: 14514602).
The figure on the right shows the cancer mortality by physical fitness levels, we followed 9,039 Japanese for 16 years. The result was that the higher the physical fitness level, the lower the relative risk of cancer mortality (PMID: 12972875).
Our research suggests that maintaining high physical fitness may prevent future onset of diabetes and cancer death, and maintaining physical fitness by continuing physical activity and sports. We believe that is important for our health.
