Currently, I am employed as an Assistant Professor at the Chinese University of Hong Kong’s Department of Japanese Studies. Waseda University’s GSAPS provided an environment to cultivate my academic acumen and network with academics, government officials and business leaders. This contributed to my ability to find an academic post at a globally recognized research university and excel in the areas of teaching, research and as a liaison between Japan and the Hong Kong region. This includes research on migration and Asian regionalism, establishing a research network, fund raising for the victims of the March 11th 2011 natural disaster in Japan and providing analysis to regional and global media outlets regarding Japan, relations in the region and social issues. Professors at GSAPS and programmes such as the Global Institute for Asian Regional Integration（GIARI） provided the theoretical knowledge, practical experience and confidence to conduct interdisciplinary research from global and regional perspectives and take a leadership role in promoting Asia Pacific Studies.
