{"id":3666,"date":"2016-07-05T10:47:47","date_gmt":"2016-07-05T01:47:47","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.waseda.jp\/fsps\/sps\/?p=3666"},"modified":"2016-07-05T10:47:47","modified_gmt":"2016-07-05T01:47:47","slug":"supporting-athletes-from-saitama-for-the-2020-tokyo-olympics","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.waseda.jp\/fsps\/sps\/news-en\/2016\/07\/05\/3666\/","title":{"rendered":"Supporting athletes from Saitama for the 2020 Tokyo Olympics"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>In July 2016,<a href=\"http:\/\/www.f.waseda.jp\/ykawa\/index.htm\"> Professor Yasuo Kawakami&#8217;s laboratory<\/a> at the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.waseda.jp\/fsps\/sps\/en\/about\/faculty\/\">Faculty of Sport Sciences <\/a>(Tokorozawa City, Saitama Prefecture) will initiate a project to scientifically support athletes from Saitama prefecture with the possibilities of participating in the 2020 Tokyo Olympics. The selected athletes, 52 of them over the age of 15, were announced at the <em>Sai no Kuni<\/em> Dream Athlete Project on June 28. All of them, who were nominated by their respective organizations, are from Saitama Prefecture or registered as athletes in Saitama.<\/p>\n<div id=\"attachment_42808\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><a href=\"http:\/\/www.waseda.jp\/top\/assets\/uploads\/2016\/06\/16e4bab57fb485716d397e62cf68b54c.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-42808 size-medium\" src=\"http:\/\/www.waseda.jp\/top\/assets\/uploads\/2016\/06\/16e4bab57fb485716d397e62cf68b54c-610x458.jpg\" alt=\"\u4f1a\u898b\u306e\u69d8\u5b50\" width=\"610\" height=\"458\" \/><\/a><p class=\"wp-caption-text\">Governor of Saitama presenting the <em>Sai no Kuni <\/em>Dream Athlete Project<\/p><\/div>\n<p>The Kawakami laboratory will examine the athletes&#8217; body composition, their skeletal muscles and tendon&#8217;s functional and quantitative characteristics, agility, and endurance to examine the athlete&#8217;s distinct physical features. This data will contribute to creating personalized training menus to strengthen each athlete&#8217;s capabilities and adjusting individual conditioning.<\/p>\n\n<p>For athletes to give their performance at the 2020 Tokyo Olympic Games, providing scientific assistance is necessary.
