However, its impact on muscle function remains unclear. This study investigated the effects of 14-day oral administration of low and high doses of HMPA on muscle strength and endurance capacity in mice. Our results show that HMPA improves muscle strength, and low-dose HMPA reduces plasma levels of blood urea nitrogen. However, HMPA does not enhance exercise endurance capacity in mice. Microbial metabolites demonstrate the potential to retain the biological activity of their parent compounds and may even exhibit enhanced bioactivity. Compared to ferulic acid, HMPA demonstrates better solubility, higher absorption rates, and superior antioxidant activity. Some of the beneficial effects of ferulic acid are attributed to its microbial metabolite, HMPA. While the effects of ferulic acid on muscle function have been extensively studied, the impact of HMPA on muscle function remains unknown.<\/p>\n<p>HMPA\uff08\u30b8\u30d2\u30c9\u30ed\u30d5\u30a7\u30eb\u30e9\u9178\uff09\u306f\u3001\u767a\u9175\u98df\u54c1\u306b\u542b\u307e\u308c\u308b\u30d5\u30a7\u30ce\u30fc\u30eb\u9178\u3067\u3042\u308a\u3001\u30d5\u30a7\u30eb\u30e9\u9178\u306e\u8178\u5185\u4ee3\u8b1d\u7269\u3068\u3057\u3066\u7523\u751f\u3055\u308c\u307e\u3059\u3002\u30d5\u30a7\u30eb\u30e9\u9178\u306f\u3001\u305d\u306e\u6297\u9178\u5316\u4f5c\u7528\u304a\u3088\u3073\u4ee3\u8b1d\u8abf\u7bc0\u4f5c\u7528\u304c\u5e83\u304f\u7814\u7a76\u3055\u308c\u3066\u3044\u308b\u30d5\u30a7\u30ce\u30fc\u30eb\u9178\u3067\u3059\u3002\u8178\u5185\u4ee3\u8b1d\u7269\u306f\u3001\u5143\u306e\u5316\u5408\u7269\u306e\u751f\u7406\u6d3b\u6027\u3092\u4fdd\u6301\u3059\u308b\u3060\u3051\u3067\u306a\u304f\u3001\u3088\u308a\u9ad8\u3044\u751f\u7406\u6d3b\u6027\u3092\u793a\u3059\u3053\u3068\u3082\u3042\u308a\u307e\u3059\u3002\u30d5\u30a7\u30eb\u30e9\u9178\u3068\u6bd4\u3079\u3066\u3001HMPA\u306f\u512a\u308c\u305f\u6c34\u6eb6\u6027\u3001\u5438\u53ce\u7387\u304a\u3088\u3073\u6297\u9178\u5316\u4f5c\u7528\u3092\u793a\u3057\u307e\u3059\u3002\u30d5\u30a7\u30eb\u30e9\u9178\u306e\u751f\u7406\u6d3b\u6027\u306e\u4e00\u90e8\u306f\u3001\u305d\u306e\u8178\u5185\u4ee3\u8b1d\u7269\u3067\u3042\u308bHMPA\u306b\u95a2\u9023\u3057\u3066\u3044\u308b\u3053\u3068\u304c\u5831\u544a\u3055\u308c\u3066\u3044\u307e\u3059\u3002\u30d5\u30a7\u30eb\u30e9\u9178\u304c\u7b4b\u6a5f\u80fd\u306b\u53ca\u307c\u3059\u5f71\u97ff\u306f\u5e83\u304f\u7814\u7a76\u3055\u308c\u3066\u3044\u307e\u3059\u304c\u3001HMPA\u304c\u7b4b\u6a5f\u80fd\u306b\u53ca\u307c\u3059\u5f71\u97ff\u306b\u3064\u3044\u3066\u306f\u307e\u3060\u660e\u3089\u304b\u306b\u3055\u308c\u3066\u3044\u307e\u305b\u3093\u3002<\/p>\n<h4>\uff08\uff12\uff09\u4eca\u56de\u306e\u7814\u7a76\u3067\u65b0\u305f\u306b\u5b9f\u73fe\u3057\u3088\u3046\u3068\u3057\u305f\u3053\u3068\u3001\u660e\u3089\u304b\u306b\u306a\u3063\u305f\u3053\u3068\uff0fFindings<\/h4>\n<p>This study found that 14-day HMPA administration significantly enhanced grip strength in mice, with low-dose HMPA reducing plasma blood urea nitrogen levels after exhaustive exercise, suggesting its potential in improving muscle strength and reducing protein catabolism. However, it did not improve endurance performance.<\/p>\n<p>\u672c\u7814\u7a76\u3067\u306f\u300114\u65e5\u9593\u306eHMPA\u6295\u4e0e\u306b\u3088\u308a\u3001\u30de\u30a6\u30b9\u306e\u63e1\u529b\u304c\u6709\u610f\u306b\u5411\u4e0a\u3057\u307e\u3057\u305f\u3002\u307e\u305f\u3001\u4f4e\u6fc3\u5ea6\u306eHMPA\u6295\u4e0e\u306f\u3001\u75b2\u52b4\u56f0\u618a\u904b\u52d5\u5f8c\u306e\u8840\u4e2d\u5c3f\u7d20\u7a92\u7d20\u6fc3\u5ea6\u3092\u4f4e\u4e0b\u3055\u305b\u308b\u3053\u3068\u304b\u3089\u3001\u7b4b\u30bf\u30f3\u30d1\u30af\u8cea\u5206\u89e3\u306e\u6291\u5236\u306b\u5bc4\u4e0e\u3059\u308b\u53ef\u80fd\u6027\u304c\u793a\u5506\u3055\u308c\u307e\u3057\u305f\u3002\u3057\u304b\u3057\u3001\u6301\u4e45\u529b\u3078\u306e\u5f71\u97ff\u306f\u8a8d\u3081\u3089\u308c\u307e\u305b\u3093\u3067\u3057\u305f\u3002<\/p>\n<h4>\uff08\uff13\uff09\u305d\u306e\u305f\u3081\u306b\u65b0\u3057\u304f\u958b\u767a\u3057\u305f\u624b\u6cd5\uff0fMethods developed<\/h4>\n<p>To investigate the effects of HMPA on muscle function, grip strength and treadmill exhaustion tests were combined to evaluate muscle strength and endurance capacity.<\/p>\n<p>HMPA\u304c\u7b4b\u6a5f\u80fd\u306b\u53ca\u307c\u3059\u5f71\u97ff\u3092\u691c\u8a0e\u3059\u308b\u305f\u3081\u3001\u63e1\u529b\u6e2c\u5b9a\u3068\u30c8\u30ec\u30c3\u30c9\u30df\u30eb\u75b2\u52b4\u56f0\u618a\u904b\u52d5\u3092\u7d44\u307f\u5408\u308f\u305b\u3066\u3001\u7b4b\u529b\u304a\u3088\u3073\u6301\u4e45\u529b\u3092\u8a55\u4fa1\u3057\u307e\u3057\u305f\u3002<\/p>\n<h4>\uff08\uff14\uff09\u7814\u7a76\u306e\u6ce2\u53ca\u52b9\u679c\u3084\u793e\u4f1a\u7684\u5f71\u97ff\uff0fResearch implications to the society<\/h4>\n<p>The findings demonstrate the potential of HMPA as a dietary supplement to improve muscle function and prevent protein degradation under physical challenge. This could benefit populations experiencing muscle strength decline caused by disuse and aging, or athletes seeking performance enhancement.<\/p>\n<p>HMPA\u304c\u7b4b\u6a5f\u80fd\u3092\u6539\u5584\u3057\u3001\u7b4b\u30bf\u30f3\u30d1\u30af\u8cea\u306e\u5206\u89e3\u3092\u6291\u5236\u3059\u308b\u6804\u990a\u88dc\u52a9\u98df\u54c1\u3068\u3057\u3066\u306e\u53ef\u80fd\u6027\u3092\u793a\u5506\u3057\u3066\u3044\u307e\u3059\u3002\u3053\u308c\u306f\u3001\u5ec3\u7528\u3084\u52a0\u9f62\u306b\u3088\u308b\u7b4b\u529b\u4f4e\u4e0b\u306b\u60a9\u3080\u4eba\u3005\u3084\u3001\u904b\u52d5\u80fd\u529b\u306e\u5411\u4e0a\u3092\u76ee\u6307\u3059\u30a2\u30b9\u30ea\u30fc\u30c8\u306b\u3068\u3063\u3066\u6709\u671b\u306a\u30b5\u30d7\u30ea\u30e1\u30f3\u30c8\u3068\u306a\u308b\u53ef\u80fd\u6027\u304c\u3042\u308a\u307e\u3059\u3002<\/p>\n<h4>\uff08\uff15\uff09\u4eca\u5f8c\u306e\u8ab2\u984c\uff0fFuture issues<\/h4>\n<p>HMPA is widely recognized for its anti-inflammatory and antioxidant properties. However, its role in mitigating oxidative stress induced by exhaustive exercise remains unexplored in this study. To bridge this gap, future research should prioritize uncovering the underlying mechanisms of HMPA to better understand its potential protective effects during prolonged intense exercise. Additionally, further investigations are needed to establish the long-term safety, efficacy, and optimal dosage of HMPA, and the detailed mechanisms underlying its impact on muscle development and energy metabolism. These efforts should also extend to examining the potential effects of HMPA in models of muscle atrophy or dysfunction. Moreover, conducting well-designed clinical trials in human subjects is essential to validate its therapeutic potential and facilitate its practical application.<\/p>\n<p>HMPA\u306f\u3001\u305d\u306e\u6297\u708e\u75c7\u4f5c\u7528\u304a\u3088\u3073\u6297\u9178\u5316\u4f5c\u7528\u3067\u5e83\u304f\u8a8d\u3081\u3089\u308c\u3066\u3044\u307e\u3059\u3002\u3057\u304b\u3057\u3001\u672c\u7814\u7a76\u3067\u306f\u904b\u52d5\u8a98\u767a\u6027\u9178\u5316\u30b9\u30c8\u30ec\u30b9\u306b\u5bfe\u3059\u308b\u4fdd\u8b77\u4f5c\u7528\u306f\u307e\u3060\u691c\u8a0e\u3055\u308c\u3066\u3044\u307e\u305b\u3093\u3002\u3053\u306e\u8ab2\u984c\u3092\u89e3\u6c7a\u3059\u308b\u305f\u3081\u306b\u3001\u95a2\u9023\u3059\u308b\u30e1\u30ab\u30cb\u30ba\u30e0\u3092\u89e3\u6790\u3057\u3001\u75b2\u52b4\u56f0\u618a\u904b\u52d5\u306b\u304a\u3051\u308b\u4fdd\u8b77\u52b9\u679c\u3092\u660e\u3089\u304b\u306b\u3059\u308b\u3053\u3068\u304c\u6c42\u3081\u3089\u308c\u307e\u3059\u3002\u307e\u305f\u3001HMPA\u306e\u9577\u671f\u7684\u306a\u5b89\u5168\u6027\u3001\u6709\u52b9\u6027\u3001\u6700\u9069\u306a\u6295\u4e0e\u91cf\u3092\u78ba\u7acb\u3057\u3001\u7b4b\u306e\u767a\u9054\u3084\u30a8\u30cd\u30eb\u30ae\u30fc\u4ee3\u8b1d\u3078\u306e\u5f71\u97ff\u3092\u89e3\u660e\u3059\u308b\u305f\u3081\u306e\u3055\u3089\u306a\u308b\u7814\u7a76\u304c\u5fc5\u8981\u3067\u3059\u3002\u3055\u3089\u306b\u3001\u7b4b\u840e\u7e2e\u3084\u7b4b\u6a5f\u80fd\u969c\u5bb3\u30e2\u30c7\u30eb\u306b\u304a\u3051\u308bHMPA\u306e\u52b9\u679c\u3092\u691c\u8a0e\u3059\u308b\u3053\u3068\u3082\u91cd\u8981\u3067\u3059\u3002\u52a0\u3048\u3066\u3001\u30d2\u30c8\u81e8\u5e8a\u8a66\u9a13\u3092\u5b9f\u65bd\u3057\u3001HMPA\u306e\u6cbb\u7642\u3078\u306e\u5fdc\u7528\u53ef\u80fd\u6027\u3092\u660e\u78ba\u306b\u3059\u308b\u3068\u3068\u3082\u306b\u3001\u5b9f\u7528\u5316\u3092\u4fc3\u9032\u3059\u308b\u5fc5\u8981\u304c\u3042\u308a\u307e\u3059\u3002<\/p>\n<h4>\uff08\uff16\uff09\u7814\u7a76\u8005\u306e\u30b3\u30e1\u30f3\u30c8\uff0fResearcher\u2019s Comment<\/h4>\n<p>Previous studies on HMPA have predominantly focused on its anti-inflammatory, antioxidant, and anti-obesity properties. This study, however, provides valuable insights into the effects of HMPA on muscle function and metabolism. A 14-day low-dose HMPA administration demonstrated its effect to enhance grip strength and reduce protein catabolism after exhaustive exercise, indicating its potential as a promising natural dietary supplement for improving muscle development and preserving muscle mass. Future research could explore the potential of HMPA in preventing muscle
