How did you find out about Waseda University? <\/strong><\/h3>\n
I must initially say that I had not enough idea about this country and Japanese universities.\u00a0 When I decided to do my PhD here I did a detailed research on the internet and contacted some of my Japanese friends.\u00a0 Waseda University was one of the serious alternatives for me in consequence of this research.<\/p>\n

Why did you choose Waseda University?<\/h3>\n
When I was looking for a university in Japan to do my PhD, naturally, I searched appropriate laboratories\/teams and supervisors to study with.\u00a0 I was especially looking for laboratories aspiring to publish articles regularly and work on real-world problems.\u00a0 Another criterion was the ranking of the universities among other world universities.\u00a0 Considering these criteria I have decided that my current laboratory at Waseda University is the most appropriate place for my career.<\/p>\n

How did you get information for our program?<\/h3>\n
In my undergraduate and postgraduate educations I met some studies performed by Team for Advanced Flow Simulation and Modeling (T*AFSM).\u00a0 When I decided to apply for Waseda University and this team for my doctoral education, I did more detailed research on the internet and in the literature, and contacted my supervisor to get information for the program.<\/p>\n

Did you have any concerns before coming to Japan?<\/h3>\n
I am from Turkey and I have studied my Master\u2019s Degree in the United Kingdom, both are Europian culture so of course yes I have had some concerns before coming to Japan since it has completely different culture.\u00a0 However, searching the life style here and talking people helped me to explain away my worries.<\/p>\n

Have you had any difficulties when you started a new life here?<\/h3>\n
As mentioned in the last answer, I have had some concerns before coming here, in the first few days in Japan it was little bit difficult for me because I cannot eat most of the Japanese foods because of the fact that I do not like to eat sea foods and they are very common here.\u00a0 Nevertheless, I learned where to find foods we usually use to cook in my country, thanks to helpful Japanese people, and dealt with this problem.<\/p>\n

How is your life in Japan and Waseda?<\/h3>\n

<\/a>I came here with my spouse who is also scholarship student and doing her PhD at another university.\u00a0 The life is always perfect for me with her, and in Japan, it is better!\u00a0 Japan is the most comfortable country among others I lived before.\u00a0 Perfect transportation systems, helpful manner of Japanese people, high level of security, etc. are the most important factors making us happy here.<\/p>\n<\/p>\n
What do you do in your free time?<\/h3>\n
I and my spouse usually work in our almost all times by force of doctoral education.\u00a0 However, living in Tokyo gives us opportunity to do several activities in our free times, there are too many worth-seeing places such as historical places, museums, parks and of course temples.\u00a0 Moreover, we are planning to visit various cities from Okinawa to Sapporo in the future.<\/p>\n

How are the relationships with your supervisor and lab members?<\/h3>\n

<\/a><\/p>\nThere are too many postgraduate and undergraduate students helping each other on any issue in our laboratory.\u00a0 Having a friendly atmosphere is one of the most important objective for our all members in addition to being a team.<\/p>\n

Our team, T*AFSM, study on computational engineering analysis with advanced flow simulation and modeling methods developed by the team.<\/p>\n

What is your career goal after your degree completion?<\/h3>\n
I will go back to my country and work for Bursa Technical University as an academic in exchange for my scholarship.\u00a0 My purpose is to continue to study on the same subjects I study here and teach these methods to young Turkish students.<\/p>\n

Studying and living in Japan may seem to difficult for foreign students because of language, food and cultural differences, however, when you see here that living in Japan is comfortable, secure and people are very helpful, you will not want to leave Japan.\u00a0 You will see that Waseda University accepts a lot of international students and gives us enriched resources that will help you improve your knowledge.<\/p>\n
