After completing my Master’s Degree, I was trying to get a good research position with fellowship.\u00a0 One of my friends came to Japan for his studies and told me about the excellence in work culture in Japan.\u00a0 After that I used to go through the websites of Japanese leading universities, and I found Waseda University is one of the well renowned universities in Japan, and a good platform for Environmental Research.<\/p>\n
-Why did you choose Waseda University?<\/h3>\n
I was qualified in the MEXT recruitment for 2014 academic year.\u00a0 Then I started contacting the professors in Japanese Universities.\u00a0 And in Waseda University, I found there is interesting environmental research is going on in Sakakibara Laboratory, and it was matching with my research interests.\u00a0 So I chose Waseda as my first preference.\u00a0 I also got positive responses from Professor Sakakibara Yutaka, for my candidature, which really helped me in the further recruitment processes.<\/p>\n
How did you get information for our program?<\/h3>\n

<\/a>For the admission for the doctoral program in Waseda I followed the University Website.\u00a0 It was so informative, and I got almost all the details from the university website.\u00a0 I also looked at the lab website which had the good details and found that my research topic was well matching with their topic.\u00a0 My professor is well known in this field and conducting excellent research work as well.\u00a0 He also emailed me detailed information, and that also helped me to know very well about the work.<\/p>\nDid you have any concerns before coming to Japan?<\/h3>\n
This was my first time going out of my country, so definitely I was a little bit concerned about the language and culture.\u00a0 It takes time to learn the language, and I still don’t know any Japanese.\u00a0 But after coming here, many people helped me to go through all the processes.\u00a0 Now I got used to the new environment.\u00a0 And also the staff at the Waseda University International Student Desk has been helping us in a very good manner.<\/p>\n
Have you had any difficulties when you started a new life here?<\/h3>\n
Yeah.\u00a0 This is the first time I travel to abroad. And the main problem was communication.\u00a0 I didn’t know Japanese language and I felt everything new.\u00a0 And I was staying a bit far from the university.\u00a0 I felt so difficult for a few days.\u00a0 Initially I had to take help from others.\u00a0 So many people helped me to overcome the difficulties.\u00a0 Later I changed my residence to a nearer place to the campus, so things got easier to manage.\u00a0 And in my laboratory almost all the people communicates well, I got some friends also, and everything is going fine now.<\/p>\n
How is your life in Japan and Waseda?<\/h3>\n

<\/a>In the university, it is very good because we are getting good assistance from the International Student Desk.\u00a0 It is very nice experience with the university and the International Student Desk.\u00a0 My Professor and lab mates are very good, so it’s a nice experience to work with them.\u00a0 I have some friends also in the campus.<\/p>\nWhat do you do in your free time?<\/h3>\n
I have some Indian friends in Japan.\u00a0 Sometimes we all meet and go for some sightseeing.\u00a0 We visited Meiji Jingu Shrine in Harajuku, Okutama lake etc.\u00a0 I really enjoy the travel in Japan with friends.<\/p>\n
