Professor Yoshihiro Shibata, the founding leader of the Mathematics and Physics Unit will be staying at the Institute of Mathematics of the Czech Academy of Sciences<\/a> for two months, May and June 2023, as an Eduald Cech distinguished professor. This is a position honoring the Czech mathematician Eduald Cech, who is famous for geometry such as Cech cohomology, and 18 mathematicians have been honored with this position in the past. Shibata is the 19th. The Eduard Cech distinguished lecture was open to all researchers regardless of field, and Shibata gave a lecture on the Navier-Stokes equation, especially the free boundary problem that he is currently researching.<\/p>\n
