The International Workshop on Bifurcation Governed by Partial Differential Equations<\/a> was held on December 20-21, 2022. The main purpose of the workshop was to share the latest research results and interests of \u201cbifurcation\u201d.<\/p>\n

Prof. Takaaki Nishida (Kyoto University)<\/p><\/div><\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<\/tbody>\n<\/table><\/div>\n

On the first day, Tayfun E. Tezduyar, Professor at Rice University and Joint Appointment Professor at Waseda University gave a keynote lecture, and four lectures were given by five students, mostly from the TGU course of Mathematical and Physical Sciences. Prof. Tezduyar spoke about some familiar bifurcation phenomena in fluid mechanics including Karman vortex.<\/p>\n

On the second day, Prof. Takaaki Nishida from Kyoto University, a leading researcher on bifurcation phenomena in partial differential equations, gave a keynote lecture. Prof. Nishida spoke about the results of his bifurcation research, and explained about the Hopf bifurcation in Rayleigh\u2212Benard convection. Starting from this lecture, Prof. Kenji Takizawa from Waseda University, the organizer of this workshop, explained the concept and motivation of the new research. Following this session, the speakers explained their opinions. Prof. Takayuki Kubo from Ochanomizu University spoke from the standpoint of pure mathematics, Prof. Takahito Kashiwabara from the University of Tokyo and Prof. Hirofumi Notsu from Kanazawa University spoke from the standpoint of applied mathematics, and Dr. Yuto Otoguro from Tokyo University of Science and Dr. Takuya Terahara from Waseda University spoke from the standpoint of engineering.<\/p>\n
