The international workshop “Recent Topics on the Mathematical Fluid Mechanics” was held on December 7 and 8, 2023. At the workshop, ten researchers, including three researchers invited from overseas by the Top Global University (TGU) program, and two TGU course students gave lectures. In particular, the lectures by Professor Mattias Hieber (TU Darmstadt), Professor Alexey Cheskidov (Westlake University), and Dr. Tim Binz (TU Darmstadt) were meaningful because the lecture content is not often available in Japan. For example, Professor Alexey Cheskidov’s lecture was related to the dissipation anomaly in Kolmogorov’s turbulent theory, and it was the latest research on the mathematical fluid mechanics of turbulence.

In the student session, Taichi Eguchi and Yoshiki Iida, first-year doctoral students in the Kozono Laboratory of the Department of Mathematics and Applied Mathematics, presented their research. The workshop was held face-to-face at the Green Computing Systems Research and Development Center (GCS), and the total number of participants, including the audience, was approximately 50.
