Prof. Mulad Alim
Professor Murad Alim (Hamburg University) visited Waseda in February 2019 and gave lectures on “Variations of Hodge structures, special geometry, and tt* geometry”.
This is a new area of research between mathematics and physics, which is related to the phenomenon of mirror symmetry in physics. The mathematical aspects involve complex differential geometry (variations of Hodge structure) and nonlinear partial differential equations (the tt* equations). Prof. Alim’s early research was carried out at the Ludwig Maximilian University of Munich and at Harvard University, and he is currently Emmy Noether Research Group Leader at Hamburg University. His lectures were an excellent opportunity for students and researchers to learn about this new area.
