Research Topics<\/h3>\n

“Creating Products That Combine Safety, Sustainability, and Support Feasibility”\u2014this is the core philosophy of the Tanaka Laboratory. Guided by this principle, we conduct research aimed at improving people’s Quality of Life (QOL), focusing on areas such as machinery diagnosis and analysis, the development of life-support devices, the promotion of physical activity, and emotion assessment. Our research topics are diverse, ranging from walking and standing assistance devices to gear anomaly diagnosis using lasers.<\/p>\n

Research Process and Learning<\/h3>\n

In our weekly seminars and group meetings, we present our research progress and exchange ideas with the professor and fellow students to refine and improve our work. Since our lab includes students from various fields\u2014not just mechanical engineering\u2014we benefit greatly from exposure to perspectives and ways of thinking different from our own. You might initially feel unsure about your level of specialized knowledge regarding mechanics or human physiology, but there is no need to worry; you will gradually acquire the necessary knowledge through lectures and guidance. We also actively engage in joint research with companies, allowing us to see firsthand how our research findings contribute to society.<\/p>\n

Lab Environment<\/h3>\n

Another great aspect of the lab is the close-knit atmosphere among students across all grade levels. We maintain a healthy balance between working with intense focus and having a great time when we socialize, making for a truly fulfilling daily lab life.
