Biosensor and IoMT Research<\/h3>\n

At Kameoka Lab, research on biosensors and the Internet of Medical Things (IoMT) is carried out.<\/p>\n

An IoMT platform combines three technologies: biosensing devices, internet communication, and cloud data processing. The lab develops biosensors that are low in cost, high in accuracy, and able to measure the body’s signals continuously, such as glucose sensors, blood-pressure sensors, and wearables.The collected data travels over the internet to the cloud, where it is analyzed with machine learning and deep learning. We also explore large language models (LLMs) to interpret the results and support diagnosis.<\/p>\n

Some research themes are microneedle electrochemical sensors for uric acid and pH, wearable colorimetric sensors for sweat glucose and lactate, and implantable hydrogel biosensors.The aim is medicine that can notice an abnormality in a patient with chronic disease early, and even from a distance.<\/p>\n

Lab Activities<\/h3>\n

At Kameoka Lab, two kinds of meetings are held every week. The first is the group meeting on Tuesdays, where the project teams share their progress and discuss it with one another. It is also where we talk with Professor Kameoka about how our research is going and how we are doing day to day. The second is the journal club on Wednesdays, where each of us introduces a paper read that week, followed by a question-and-answer session.<\/p>\n

Exchanging views on our research and on these papers sharpens our thinking and broadens our grasp of the latest work.<\/p>\n

Future medicine built with biosensors and network technology (research panels)<\/p><\/div>\n

Lab Life<\/h3>\n

Kameoka Lab was established in 2022. Professor Jun Kameoka is a kind mentor with rich research experience in biosensors and microfluidic devices, and he gets along well with everyone. The lab brings together students from inside and outside Japan on the Hibikino campus in Kitakyushu.<\/p>\n

It is delightful to witness the lab room grow warmer and fill with more laughter and discussion. At weekends, members often go out together for a meal or a short trip. Here we are not only working on our research, but sharing a journey of life and creating plenty of memories.<\/p>\n
