Research Theme<\/h3>\n

At the Tateno Laboratory, we are conducting research into the development of communication systems using wireless sensor networks, the development of gadgets using IoT devices, automatic control of small autonomous robots, etc. We are particularly focusing on the development of indoor positioning systems. GPS, a typical example of an outdoor positioning system, has difficulty transmitting and receiving satellite signals indoors, resulting in insufficient accuracy. Therefore, in our laboratory, we use multiple wireless communication modules, including ZigBee, LoRa, and UWB, to calculate the estimated position coordinates of targets. Furthermore, we are working with external organizations to develop an indoor positioning system, and are conducting experiments that simulate more practical situations. We are considering the problems that arise in this process and how to solve them, and are working to improve the accuracy of positioning in order to put it into practical use.<\/p>\n

Other research projects we are conducting include the development of a device operation system that uses hand gesture recognition with an infrared array sensor, and space sharing using ultrasonic parametric speakers. Furthermore, in collaboration with medical institutions, we are developing a movement path estimation system for radiologists using a 3D depth sensor.<\/p>\n

The seminar, held every Thursday, is a place for each student to report on their research progress, as well as a place for exchanging opinions and sharing thoughts and ideas that they would not have thought of on their own. Professor Tateno is very enthusiastic about his research and will tackle any problems sincerely until he finds a satisfactory solution.<\/p>\n
