Research Theme<\/h3>\n

The Yoshie Laboratory conducts research under the theme of Community Computing, which focuses on analyzing the flow of information within communities\u2014spaces where people gather and interact\u2014and delivering that information in formats that are easy to understand for those who need it. Applications include using AI to automatically generate care plans in the field of elder care, and analyzing sensor data at construction and manufacturing sites to predict the status of equipment. The research integrates technologies such as machine learning, speech and image processing, and augmented reality (AR), while exploring new forms of technology that bridge physical and digital spaces in practical and meaningful ways.<\/p>\n

Current Research Project<\/h3>\n

One current project involves the study of consumer behavior in tourism. Tourists are equipped with devices such as eye trackers while walking through cityscapes, and the gaze and biometric data collected during these activities are analyzed to better understand the mechanisms underlying purchasing decisions during travel. The laboratory provides a supportive environment where necessary equipment and academic resources are flexibly arranged through consultation. Students are also encouraged to actively explore their ideas, supported by approachable faculty members and senior researchers who are always available for guidance.<\/p>\n

Research Support System<\/h3>\n

A key strength of the Yoshie Laboratory is the freedom for students to choose research topics based on their own interests. Research activities are supported by two types of regular meetings. Full-lab meetings provide opportunities to learn about a variety of research topics and to build academic networks, while smaller peer-group meetings offer a more casual setting where students can easily exchange ideas, ask questions, and find new perspectives.<\/p>\n

In addition, participation in academic conferences and international symposia is actively encouraged, allowing students to stay informed about the latest research trends and to broaden their global outlook through interaction with researchers from around the world.<\/p>\n
