Students have the freedom to choose their areas of interest and research targets right from the start, whether it’s classical tasks like classification or advanced ones like 3D reconstruction, or specific fields ranging from remote sensing images to medical images. There are numerous previous works and experimental studies that new students can learn from, making it a great environment for those who prefer working independently or drawing inspiration from other projects.
This breadth of topics is thanks to Professor Kamata’s extensive experience and keen awareness of current research trends, coupled with his genuine engagement in discussing and refining students’ research.

Research Life

Our seminars are held twice a week, providing a great opportunity for presenters to share their progress and challenges. It’s also a valuable time for attendees to ask questions and engage in face-to-face discussions. These seminars are at the heart of Kamata Lab, constantly pushing the boundaries of research with current and emerging topics. Students are encouraged to stay updated with the latest papers and continuously refine their ideas and methods.
This dynamic research environment is nurtured by Professor Kamata, who takes an active interest in every step of the students’ research journeys. He offers guidance and experimental advice, helping students achieve their best results without micromanaging their work. Consequently, every student is expected to produce a conference-worthy paper by the time they graduate, a significant achievement whether they continue in research or enter the job market.

Other Activities

Despite the rigorous research expectations, Kamata Lab is far from a monotonous academic grind. Collaboration and camaraderie are traditions here. Beyond regular dinners and games, Professor Kamata occasionally hosts sushi parties, adding a fun and communal aspect to our lab life.

If you are passionate about image processing and ambitious to achieve great things, consider joining Kamata Lab. The skills and confidence you develop here will benefit you long after graduation. We look forward to welcoming you to our lab!

Laboratory members

Student room

Desk work

Welcome to Kamata Lab!
