About our lab<\/h3>\n
At Iwaihara lab, we strive to explore and improve on the extraction, utilization, and engineering of data. By combining a comprehensive focus on deep learning, we aim to automate and achieve various tasks with great effectiveness and efficiency. Specific topics of our lab include:<\/p>\n
\u2022 Document classification and summarization
\n\u2022 Present and absent key phrase extraction
\n\u2022 Knowledge graph, entity link prediction and alignment
\n\u2022 Sentiment analysis and emotion detection
\n\u2022 Authorship attribution<\/p>\n
Data can be found across different industries and disciplines, and we welcome any who shares an interest in innovating ideas on how data can be exploited. Our lab focuses not only on structured data, but also other forms including the ever-growing natural language tasks. With the growing popularity of large language models (i.e., ChatGPT, Llama2), we also aim to explore not only how it could be utilized, but also the challenges that can be addressed.<\/p>\n
Lab Culture and Activities<\/h3>\n
Once becoming a part of Iwaihara Lab, various supports will be provided to ensure smooth research progress. Our lab is supplied with plenty of resources and equipment to assist with competitive research against the state-of-the-art.<\/p>\n
Aside from this, Professor Iwaihara promotes regular communication ranging from progress reports, short updates and one-to-one discussion provided when required. Starting in a new environment could pose some challenges, and we welcome discussions to ensure a comfortable school life outside of the lab.<\/p>\n
Between colleagues, we share and discuss research within and across domains. Exchanging insights and providing support during research struggles. Beyond research, we maintain a friendly environment, organizing activities and celebrating colleagues\u2019 milestones in their journey with our lab.<\/p>\n
Opportunities<\/h3>\n
Progress in research is also encouraged to be shared and exchanged beyond the walls of our lab. Iwaihara lab also encourages sharing of insights and results to external organizations, submitting for conferences and journals to gain exposure and obtain feedback from others that will benefit your future endeavors. Not only that, students to have moved on from the journey from the lab also maintain contact, creating a network of connections within the corporate and research world.<\/p>\n
