Welcome to Makino Lab<\/h1>\n

Name: Kimura Rino<\/strong>
\n<\/span>Grade & Course: First-year, Master’s Program<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n

“How can computers effectively recognize human speech in noisy environments like humans do?\u201d<\/p>\n

In Makino Lab, we conduct research using signal processing and deep learning to realize a world where computers possess human-like auditory capabilities.<\/p>\n

We hold seminars every Tuesday and Friday. On Tuesdays, all lab members gather to present and discuss research topics and recent findings. On Fridays, we split into Signal Processing and Deep Learning groups for more specialized discussions. The professor attentively listens to student presentations offering questions and comments. We also get feedback from the members of the group. Through the seminar, we make new discoveries that we may not have made on our own.<\/p>\n

Additionally, Makino Lab offers an excellent research environment. You can discuss your questions with the professor and lab members even outside of seminar hour. The student room is equipped with dedicated computing servers and individual desks with monitors, providing a conducive environment for research.<\/p>\n

Makino Lab also has many interactions with people outside the Lab. The professor maintains connections with companies and universities abroad, and we have opportunities to interact with these companies and universities through joint research and meetings. In addition, master’s students are encouraged to make at least one presentation at an international conference during their enrollment, enabling global exchanges through research.<\/p>\n
