I am specialized in electoral politics with a particular interest in Japanese elections. My research interests lie in exploring what the effects a lack of electoral competition has on democratic governance in industrialized democracies. The theme of my dissertation is to find out how uncontested and uncompetitive elections impacts legislators behavior as well as voters trust in democracy.
