He has worked on integrated assessment of sustainability issues for many years and is well-known as a developer of Multi-Scale Integrated Analysis of Societal and Ecosystem Metabolism, which links between the metabolism of socio-economic systems and the potential constraints of the embedding natural environment. He has more than 150 scientific publications in the prestige journals such as Ecological Economics, Energy, and Nature and is also the author of several books.
