We are pleased to announce the 2026 IPSA RC31 Political Philosophy Methodology Workshop, to be held at Waseda University in Tokyo on 29\u201330 October 2026.<\/span><\/p>\n

We invite abstract submissions from current and recent graduate students (within 3 years of receiving their PhD) in political philosophy\u00a0and political theory. Submissions on any topic are welcome,\u00a0but we are especially interested in papers that explore methodological issues in\u00a0the discipline,\u00a0including, though not limited to, the analytic-Continental divide, the moralism-realism debate, experimental<\/span>\u00a0<\/span>political theory, mentalism and normative behaviourism,\u00a0critical,\u00a0postcolonial and decolonial methodologies<\/span>,\u00a0<\/span>and the\u00a0<\/span>\u2018<\/span>comparative turn<\/span>\u2019<\/span>\u00a0in the study of political thought.<\/span><\/p>\n

Each\u00a0speaker\u00a0will present for 15<\/span>\u2013<\/span>20 minutes, followed by a response from\u00a0a\u00a0discussant and a Q&A.\u00a0Speakers are expected to\u00a0participate\u00a0fully in both days of the conference\u00a0and\u00a0contribute actively to discussions of fellow participants\u2019 work.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

The event will feature two keynote lectures by Professors Humeira Iqtidar (King\u2019s College London) and Jonathan Floyd (Bristol)<\/span>,<\/span>\u00a0and remarks by the IPSA President Yuko Kasuya (Waseda)<\/span>.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

No registration fees are\u00a0required.\u00a0Participants from outside Tokyo will be eligible for reimbursement of accommodation expenses.\u00a0Travel expenses will not be reimbursed.<\/span>
