The overarching theme of this project is the application of data analytics and formal modeling to the study of international relations — peace and security as well as the emerging new world order, in particular. We will focus on two specific research projects for this academic year, both of which are to reunify broken parts of global order (hence, \u201calgebra\u201d): 1) Examining the power of corporate control in the global ownership network and its implications for international security and order; 2) Modeling new nuclear deterrence strategies that respond to the recent challenges posed by the emerging and destructive technologies and incentivize the nuclear-weapons states to reduce their reliance on nuclear weapons.<\/p>\n
