This series explores how political institutions address fundamental political challenges, using both theoretical and comparative approaches.<\/p>\n<p>Over the course of the series, we will examine how institutions respond to six core political problems:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Credible commitment problems<\/li>\n<li>Preference aggregation problems<\/li>\n<li>Conflict resolution problems<\/li>\n<li>Coalition formation problems<\/li>\n<li>Delegation and accountability problems<\/li>\n<li>Coordination and cooperation problems<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>The first session will focus on credible commitment problems, with an in-depth discussion of power-sharing agreements in the contexts of democracy, dictatorship, and federalism.
