For R, advanced knowledge is not required, but the ability to read and write files, manipulate data frames, define and use functions, and perform some statistical analysis (e.g. estimate linear regression models or categorical dependent variable models, interpret the results) is desirable. Knowledge of Python is not required but definitely a plus.
