¡ÚÊó¹ð¥¿¥¤¥È¥ë¡Û Self-Rated Health Status of the Japanese and Europeans in Later Life: Evidence from the JSTAR (Japanese Study of Ageing and Retirement) and SHARE(Survey on Health, Retirement, and Ageing)
¡Ú³µÍסÛ
¡¡Using two-wave panel data from surveys in Japan and Europe, this study examines whether the self-rated health of the middle-aged and elderly is comparable across countries and survey waves. We find that a person¡Çs own health is evaluated on different standards (thresholds) in the different countries and survey waves. When common thresholds are used, the rank of Japan on health becomes higher but the change in health within the country across the survey waves becomes worse.
