This paper is an output of the GLOPEII study on Food, Resource, Poverty and Institution (FRPI). The objective of the study was to understand the behavior and the determinants for the performance of rural households. We analyzed productivity growth and its determining factors for Vietnamese Agriculture, using the survey data from the Mekong delta region. As the growth factors of productivity, we considered Body Mass Index (BMI), which is a proxy for health conditions, risk preference, and social infrastructure (distance from canal), Education, and etc. BMI had a positive effect on household income in the lower income group. The efficiency of rice production and risk taking behavior had negative impacts.
