For example, there have been proposals of a constituent power for the EU or for international society as a whole. On the other hand, there are also calls to do away with constituent power altogether. This seminar aims to compare, from a global perspective, contemporary constituent power theories, and will also refer to key historical events such as the French Revolution where the concept first appeared. The seminar will also share some of the research activities of the speaker.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>What is the ICL Study Seminar?<\/p>\n<p>The Institute of Comparative Law hosts the ICL Study Seminars mainly for Waseda University students (undergraduate and graduate). The purpose of these Seminars is to foster greater understanding of foreign legal cultures.<\/p>\n<p>The Seminars aim to share with students the research output of ICL, and as such will be different from ICL\u2019s public lectures and seminars that are specialized and intended for professional researchers. The Seminar will introduce insights and information about foreign law in a student-friendly way (of course, faculty, staff, and the general public are also welcome to attend!).<\/p>\n<p>These Seminars are held about 2 to 3 times a year. The Seminars will discuss foreign law culture, as well as the speakers\u2019 experiences with studying abroad, travelling abroad for research trips, etc. These topics are helpful when considering or preparing to study abroad or go to graduate school. We look forward to seeing you at the Seminars.<\/p>\n<p>\u25c6All are welcome to attend.
