He is a scholar of public international law, specializing in international human rights law, international humanitarian law, and international criminal law. His research has particularly focused on reparations for victims of armed conflict and the participation of victims in international criminal justice, and he has published numerous works in English and Japanese in these fields.<br \/>\nProfessor Furuya\u2019s current research addresses possible reparation mechanisms for victims of armed conflicts in Ukraine and the Gaza Strip.
