When we reflect on its thousands of years of history, we notice the road that East Asia has passed was never smooth. The humanities must also have been somehow formed by such history. We believe it must be meaningful to reveal the construction of the humanities in modern East Asia from the nineteenth century onward, and to reconstruct the humanities for this new age based on the critical consideration against it, in the turning point like globalization today. This is significance of this forum\u2019s theme.<\/p>\n
