As a part of Shakespeare collaboration with the University of B irmingham and Waseda University, we are extremely pleased to welcome Professor Russell Jackson,
\nProfessor Emeritus of the University of Birmingham, UK, to give a lecture on the evening of Sunday 22. Professor Jackson is recognized to be one of the leading authorities on Shakespearean cinema in the world. He has had a long and dis tinguished career in academia, teaching and researching at the Shakespeare Institute and the Department of English and Drama at Birmingham since 1978.
\nThe films Professor Jackson will discuss in his lecture are Akira Kurosawa’s The Bad Sleep Well ( \u60aa\u3044\u5974\u307b\u3069\u3088\u304f\u7720\u308b, 1960), Grigori Kozintsev’s Hamlet (1964), and Helmut Kautner’s Der Restist Schweigen (The Rest is Silence, Germany1960).<\/p>\n
