She has published articles in both Japanese and English on topics including\u00a0gender and authorship, feminism, reproductive justice, and post-3.11 literature. She is currently co-editing a book on feminist perspectives on translation in Japanese literature. In addition to her academic work, Yoshio is the translator of Imamura Natsuko\u2019s\u00a0<i>This Is Amiko, Do You Copy?<\/i>\u00a0(Pushkin Press, 2023) and co-translator of Kawakami Mieko\u2019s\u00a0<i>Ashes of Spring<\/i>\u00a0(Amazon Audible, 2025) and\u00a0<i>Sisters in Yellow<\/i>\u00a0(Knopf, 2026). She has also translated works by the early 20th century Japanese authors Higuchi Ichiy\u014d and Osaki Midori. Her translations have appeared in\u00a0<i>Granta<\/i>,\u00a0<i>The Atlantic<\/i>,\u00a0<i>Freeman\u2019s<\/i>,\u00a0<i>Words without Borders<\/i>,\u00a0<i>Monkey<\/i>,\u00a0<i>World Literature Today<\/i>,\u00a0<i>The Penguin Book of Japanese Short Stories<\/i>, and\u00a0<i>The Penguin Book of the International Short Story<\/i>.<\/p>\n<p>Yoshio received her B.A. in English from Yale University, M.A. in English from the University of Tokyo, and Ph.D. in Japanese literature from Columbia University.
