Freiburg is known as an environmentally friendly city, and I had been interested in their study program since I got into Waseda. I took seminars and a project-based course on environmental science where I learned different impacts of climate change and approaches of climate mitigation, and I became more aware of climate action. Moreover, I feel more responsible for my own behavior in regard to environmental impact, as I got along with peer students and other internationals who choose vegan diet or transportation with less carbon footprint on a daily basis from the perspective of environmental protection. These real experiences throughout the exchange program influenced my everyday behaviors a lot, which I think would not have happened without the year abroad. After the year in Germany, I belong to the seminar class on urban study where we learn sustainable urban planning, and my interest has expanded to designing of infrastructure for environmentally friendly means of transportation.<br \/>\nExperience in my year abroad has made me more conscious of carbon footprint by our lives, and therefore I would like to keep learning how to develop a sustainable society.
