My research focuses on trilateral cooperation among the United States, Japan, and South Korea, with particular emphasis on the role of Japan-South Korea relations within the U.S. Indo-Pacific Strategy. As security, economic resilience, and technological governance become increasingly interconnected in East Asia, effective trilateral coordination has emerged as a critical pillar of regional stability. Situated at the intersection of international relations, diplomatic communication, and regional studies, this research reflects GSICCS\u2019s interdisciplinary approach to analyzing complex global challenges.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n \u00a0<\/span>As East Asia faces evolving security threats, economic interdependence, and intensifying competition in emerging technologies, effective coordination among the three countries has become increasingly vital. However, persistent historical disputes and fluctuating domestic political dynamics continue to constrain cooperation, particularly between Japan and South Korea. My research examines how these communication gaps, narrative framings, and policy discourses shape alliance behavior and strategic decision-making.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n \u00a0<\/span>Focusing on South Korea\u2019s foreign policy, this research analyzes how Korea navigates alliance management with the United States while balancing bilateral relations with Japan. Drawing on diplomatic statements, policy documents, and elite discourse analysis, my work explores how trust is constructed\u2014or undermined\u2014through official communication channels, summit diplomacy, and institutional frameworks.\u202f<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n \u00a0<\/span>By integrating theoretical perspectives on alliance politics with empirical analysis of policy communication, my research aims to clarify the conditions under which bilateral tensions can be managed and transformed into opportunities for deeper multilateral cooperation. Ultimately, this study seeks to contribute to GSICCS\u2019s mission of producing globally minded scholars who offer policy-relevant insights into international cooperation, conflict management, and the pursuit of a sustainable and inclusive regional order in the Indo-Pacific.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n
