The center of my focus is Min Jin Lee\u2019s Pachinko (2017), a historical fiction about the lives of long-term resident Koreans in Japan, or the so-called \u201cZainichi.\u201d Utilizing the new historicist approach, I analyze Lee\u2019s strategic appropriation of Korean American discourses to recreate the missing social web of the Zainichi Korean community.
