Contemporary Japan Research Group
Glenda S. Roberts教授
This study group consists of a group of social scientists whose research focusses on topics related to change in Japanese society and culture, whether it be migration, family, work, gender regime, or other current issues with which we as social scientists engage.
Heretofore we have spent most of our efforts in sponsoring colloquia, but the COVID-19 pandemic cut short most of last year’s plans. Therefore, for the 2021-22 year, we will change to a reading group format. We plan to spend several meetings getting together by Zoom or in person, to present work we are currently writing, and offer critiques to each other, with the aim of better preparing for publication in academic journals.
At the same time, we also plan to hold several mini-symposia and invite speakers from Japan or abroad, if we can secure the budget for these activities.
We are also inviting one new member to join us this year: Dr. Noriko Fujita of Osaka Keizai University.
