Winning in fast-growing emerging markets requires Japanese companies to tackle multiple challenges including poor infrastructures, weak rule of law, regulatory ambiguities etc. These \u201cinstitutional voids\u201d also imply that customers in developing economies have needs which are unique compared with their counterparts in developed countries. Unique needs, coupled with high customer price sensitivity, translate into a need for coming up with new business models that combine value innovations with innovation in the business delivery system.<\/p>\n<h4><strong>\uff18\uff0e\u767b\u58c7\u8005<\/strong><\/h4>\n<p>\u25cf\u8b1b\u6f14\u8005\uff1aDr. Ishtiaq Pasha Mahmood<\/p>\n<h3>\u00a0<img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-full wp-image-1264\" src=\"https:\/\/www.waseda.jp\/fcom\/wbf\/assets\/uploads\/2018\/06\/W0Vca1422503202.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"120\" height=\"180\" \/><\/h3>\n<p><span lang=\"EN-US\" style=\"font-family: 'Meiryo UI';\"><span style=\"color: #000000;\">Ishtiaq Pasha Mahmood is an Associate Professor at the NUS Business School where he studies and works with multinational and indigenous companies on their emerging market strategies. He joined the NUS faculty in 1999, after obtaining an economics degree from Oberlin College (1992) and a Ph.D. from Harvard (1999), and an interim stint as a management consultant in Chicago. From 2012 to 2014, Pasha was a Professor at IMD Lausanne where he continues to teach in its flagship Orchestrating Winning Performance (OWP) program. He has also taught at the Hitotsubashi University in Tokyo, and is a member of the Asian Service Business Research Institute (ASBS) at Waseda University. In 2002, Pasha won the Haynes Prize from the Academy of International Business (AIB) for the most prominent scholar in international business (under 40). More recently in 2014, he has won the Aspen Faculty Pioneer Award; dubbed &#8220;the Oscars of the business school world&#8221; by The Financial Times, the award recognises educators who integrate social and environmental issues into their academic research, educational programmes and business ethics. Pasha sits on the faculty advisory boards of the Evian Group, and the recently created SONY Reverse Innovation Community.
