The Yanai Initiative will accept two VGRs from Waseda University, each spending spend one ten-week quarter pursuing short-term doctoral research; participating in graduate seminars; attending lectures and other academic or cultural events; and socializing with students and faculty, including other visitors. VGRs will be affiliated with <a href=\"https:\/\/www.alc.ucla.edu\/graduate\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">the UCLA Department of Asian Languages &amp; Cultures<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Applicants must be degree-seeking graduate students at their home institution, and who plan to return to their degree programs at the conclusion of the VGR experience.
