invite aspiring Japanese-to-English translators to apply for a free in-person workshop scheduled on November 20, 2024 at the Waseda International House of Literature, led by Polly are required to submit the following:<\/p>\n<ul style=\"list-style-type: disc;\">\n<li><strong>Your CV <\/strong>including your translation experience<\/li>\n<li><strong>A cover letter <\/strong>explaining why you wish to take part in the workshop, and what you believe you would contribute to the workshop<\/li>\n<li><strong>A sample translation<\/strong>: about 1000 English words. Please submit both the Japanese original and your English translation. Both published and unpublished materials are accepted<\/li>\n<li><strong>Please send your application to <\/strong><a href=\"mailto:wihl-translation@list.waseda.jp\"><strong>wihl-translation@list.waseda.jp<\/strong><\/a><strong> with the subject \u201cNovember workshop\u201d<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>The deadline for application is September 30, 2024.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The results of the screening will be notified to all the applicants by October 15. Recent translations include<em> Spring Garden<\/em> by Tomoka Shibasaki,<em> There\u2019s No Such Thing as an Easy Job<\/em> by Kikuko Tsumura, <em>Mild Vertigo <\/em>by Mieko Kanai and <em>Butter <\/em>by Asako Yuzuki. Her translation of <em>Where the Wild Ladies Are<\/em> by Aoko Matsuda won a World Fantasy Award in 2021.
