Join us at the Waseda International House of Literature to learn about the potential of AI and digital transformation for future humanities research. Learn about collaborative research processes with colleagues in the digital humanities. Researchers interested in applying digital techniques to their current research projects are encouraged to attend. No previous experience with digital humanities is required.<\/p>\n<h4>Lecture<\/h4>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Asanobu Kitamoto (Director, ROIS-DS Center for Open Data in the Humanities \/ Professor, National Institute of Informatics)<\/strong><br \/>\nDr. Kitamoto will discuss AI, research collaboration, and digital transformation in digital humanities. These correspond to the technology, organization, and outcome of digital humanities research and significantly impact the research environment and culture. Dr. Kitamoto will introduce our activities and experiences in ROIS-DS Center for Open Data in the Humanities (CODH) to illustrate the future of humanities research.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Tarin Clanuwat (Google Brain)<\/strong><br \/>\nDr. Clanuwat will offer a brief introduction about the technology behind the AI kuzushiji recognition system and the development of the Miwo app. Dr. Clanuwat will also discuss current limitations and future possibilities in kuzushiji recognition systems and explain how those systems can benefit learning about, researching, and archiving kuzushiji documents.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Yingtao Tian (Google Brain)<\/strong><br \/>\nDr. Tian will present a brief overview about the efforts in understanding Japanese humanities through the lens of machine intelligence.
