Courtesy name were written by Zonyan. He excelled in dragon and tiger paintings. This work shows a dragon in clouds. All parts of the dragon were drawn using an outline of dark ink. The clouds were drawn using light ink and a water brush, and medium ink and dry brush. A rounded outline was created in a pointillistic style. A slightly graded effect was used to express the softness and three-dimensionality of the bubbling clouds. The use of such opposing drawing techniques, one using a thin outline and the other without the use of outline, followed the ink brush painting style from the Song dynasty.
