Between the richly bulging body is a short neck and high foot. There are four handles around the small mouth. Four-petaled flower designs have been pressed on to each handle. The overall vase has a white slip coat, while a dragon and phoenix are depicted in bold black brush strokes against a cloud pattern background. The eyes, nose and scales as well as the swirls of the clouds are expressed using thin, scratched lines. The rustic yet vibrant design is characteristic of the Yuan dynasty.
