Kanami Orihara

  • PhD (Pharmacy)
  • Assistant Professor, Waseda Institute for Advanced Study

Research Topics

I am investigating allergies from a new and emerging field of neuroimmunology. In particular, NMDA-R (a type of neurotransmitter receptors) and amphiregulin (an agonist for EGFR and a known growth factor for some type of cancers) are the key factors in this study. With a view to clarify the role of NMDA-R in immune regulation, I am currently aiming to delineate a mechanism of amphiregulin contributes to immune imbalance, leading to chronicity in allergies.
