Message from Director

Waseda Business School (WBS) aims to be a "platform" to groom businesspeople with market value who can achieve international success.

Professor Tatsuyuki Negoro,
Director, Waseda Business School

Waseda Business School (Waseda University Graduate School of Commerce, MBA track) is a professional degree course designed to raise professionals who will be future business leaders and possess expertise in their selected management field. We offer the gInternational MBA Program (English or Japanese-besed program),h gOne-Year MBA Program (Japanese-based program),h gEvening MBA Program (Japanese-based program),h gEvening Specialized MBA Program (Japanese-based program),h and the gWaseda-Nanyang Double MBA Program (English-based program)h where students can simultaneously obtain two MBA degrees from WBS and Nanyang Business School.

At WBS, we believe that the universityfs gcustomerh is not only its students, but also society. A universityfs mission should be to contribute to social progress while responding to its studentsf needs. In addition, we believe that the gstudenth the school has in mind should not be the gstudent as is,h but rather the gstudent as can be.h WBS aims to be a platform for personal growth where students can become professionals with gmarket valueh who play active international roles in leading industrial and social progress. This gmarket valueh refers to possessing skills that can be applied both within and across various companies in a given sector.

WBS has been proactive in its internationalization and offers MBAs in both Japanese and English in its full-time program. It is also the first institution in Japan to establish a double MBA program with an overseas business school. We take pride in being a globally attractive business school and the leading business school in Japan. Many international students have converged at Waseda, and English, Chinese, Korean, and many other languages can be heard around our internationally flavored campus. WBS has agreements with 23 overseas institutions and actively accepts and sends out exchange students.

In the evening program, students can obtain broad management knowledge through core subjects, while also becoming experts in their chosen professional field. The evening program students are often businesspeople on the front-lines of industry, and discussions stemming from an awareness of practical issues are engaged in passionately.

WBS is the largest management professional degree program in Japan. From our experience, we believe that geconomies of scale and scopeh also applies to business schools. As Japanfs largest business school, one of the major appeals of WBS is its diverse programs supported by a large faculty of high-quality professors (economies of scale) and interactions among the programs (economies of scope). Upon graduation from WBS, students become a member of a gglobal network of businesspeopleh that reaches beyond Japan to span the globe, with an emphasis on East Asia in particular.

WBS faculty is composed of people who are highly evaluated in academia and people who have received acclaim as businesspeople. Through a division of roles, our faculty offers educational content with both practical and academic depth. WBS pursues its mission of sending forth the next generation of business leaders with a high level of management knowledge and the vision and perseverance to lead both industry and society.
